The Flight Booking Process
The Mansfield International Travel Team, in collaboration with our travel agency, will work with you to make your flight arrangements. Since individual travel needs can vary greatly, this process may differ based on your specific situation.
After we confirm your details through the Acceptance Portal, including your preferred departure airport, a member of the Mansfield International Travel Team will contact you via email with a flight proposal. Please review this proposal carefully to ensure all details, such as cities, travel dates, and the spelling and order of your name, are correct.
You must respond with your approval or any requests for changes within 24 hours of receiving the flight proposal. Delays in your response may result in the proposed flight no longer being available.
Once you approve the flight proposal, we will finalize the booking and send you the final flight confirmation. Again, please double-check this confirmation for any errors.
*Important note. International air travel has become increasingly complex in recent years. While we make every effort to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience, sometimes our options are limited. Please understand that the flight proposals we offer are the best available options given the various rules, regulations, and budgetary constraints that we must adhere to.
The Mansfield Travel Team works diligently to ensure all travel arrangements are made and all travel needs are met. We are happy to answer questions you may have, but please review all available resources first to see if the answer to your question has already been provided. Please be aware that we are responsible for arranging flights for your program as well as several others.
Travel Reservation
After your international flight is booked, a travel reservation will be emailed to you for your reference. The travel reservation contains:
- Seats
- Airline and Aircraft information
- Flight Duration
- Travel Dates
We recommend you print your travel reservation at home for easy access to your booking details during travel. This will be most useful should the airline experience any problems with their computer systems, or if immigration authorities demand proof of onward or return travel.
Domestic Flights: Boarding Pass & Check-In
Many airlines today use electronic tickets (e-tickets) instead of traditional paper boarding passes. An e-ticket is an electronic record of your booking stored in the airline’s computer system. If you are traveling domestically, for example for visa travel, you may have the option to check-in online before your flight. During this process, you can download an e-ticket onto your phone. Ticketing agents can also print your boarding pass for you at the airport.
International Flights: Boarding Pass & Check-In
For international travel, you must complete your check-in in-person at the airport. After presenting your passport and itinerary to the ticketing agent, the agent will print the boarding passes for you.
Handling Paper Tickets
If you receive a paper boarding pass, ensure you keep it safe! Losing a paper ticket can lead to significant hassle, requiring paperwork and possible re-ticketing fees. We recommend keeping it close to your passport, ideally in a passport holder or wallet.
Lost Travel Reservation
If you misplace a print-out of your travel reservation, you can easily print another copy from your email or request an airline agent resend it. You must present a valid ID to re-obtain a lost travel reservation.
